November 2022 Update
The Master Planning Committee is wrapping up the final design before bidding the expansion and renovation projects at Muskego High School and Lakeview Elementary. In the coming months, we expect to see the arrival of construction trailers and the start of earthwork at key locations.
We are planning for a fall of 2024 completion date for the projects that were approved during the 2022 Referendum.
October 2022 Update
October 4, 2022 - The Plan Commission approved the Building Site Operation Plan for the MHS expansion.

Draft Renderings
Following a successful facilities referendum in April, District teams continued to meet during the summer to design the MHS S.T.E.A.M. and Health Science additions, as well as the new gymnasium at Lakeview. Below are some draft renderings of spaces, pending Plan Commission approval. The projects will be bid out this fall/winter and will begin construction in the spring. Thanks to all who took time this summer to lead and attend user group meetings!
Below are draft renderings of the spaces.

Relocation of Grounds-Maintenance Garage from MHS to ESC
The current grounds shop is located in the middle of the S.T.E.A.M. addition. Relocating the shop is necessary for construction and also will provide a location for grounds workers that is central to the athletic complex.
On April 5, 2022, both referendum questions passed.
On January 20, 2022, after many planning discussions, the school board approved two questions to be placed on the April 5th ballot.
Question 1
Shall the Muskego-Norway School District, Waukesha and Racine Counties, Wisconsin be authorized to issue pursuant to Chapter 67 of the Wisconsin Statutes, general obligation bonds in an amount not to exceed $27,800,000 for the public purpose of paying the cost of a school facility improvement project consisting of: construction of an addition for technical education, science, technology, engineering and math areas, and renovations at the High School; construction of an addition and renovations for a gymnasium and conversion of the current gymnasium into a cafeteria at Lakeview Elementary School; site improvements; and acquisition of related furnishings, fixtures and equipment?
Question 2

Below are projects that were included in the October 2021 Community Survey
Project 1
Update/Expand the tech ed (shop) and STEAM areas
There is a growing demand for employees in the engineering, construction, and manufacturing fields. However, our current classrooms and labs, which were originally built in the 1960s, are too small and limit our ability to expand course offerings in woods/construction/building trades, metals, robotics, fabrication, Project Lead the Way (PLTW), and auto repair. This project would also update and expand hands-on learning opportunities for students studying science, technology, engineering, art, and math (STEAM).
Project 2
Update/Expand medicine/health sciences areas
The high school’s academic and career planning efforts revealed that nearly 25 percent of our student body is interested in pursuing a career in health sciences. The proposed addition would provide both classroom and experiential/hands-on learning spaces for students interested in careers such as physical therapy, nursing, athletic training, and other health sciences. This space. would allow us to expand the partnerships developed with our Connect Academy, which brings in healthcare professionals to support the daily learning of our students.
Project 3
Expand band & choir and build an indoor performance lab
Enrollment in our band and choir programs has grown significantly since these classrooms were constructed in 2003. Both areas are unable to support full operations and have outgrown storage capacity. The proposed renovation will provide needed space for today as well as future growth. The project would also include a performance lab, providing indoor space for physical education, youth groups, athletics, marching band practice, and dance, all of which are seasonally impacted by limited indoor space and seasonally poor weather. Opportunities would be available for the community to use for fitness and indoor walking.
Project 4
Build a gym and create a dedicated cafeteria at Lakeview Elementary
Lakeview Elementary is the only school in our district without a dedicated cafeteria. Consequently, lunch is served in the gym, requiring staff to set up and take down tables daily. This situation reduces the time students have to eat lunch and creates scheduling challenges for class offerings, physical education, performances, and after-school programming. The current gym is not regulation size, and therefore cannot be used for competition. The project would build a single-court gym and convert the existing gym to a dedicated cafeteria.
