Muskego-Norway Schools is committed to ensuring high-quality education for each of its learners. Students are provided with a continuum of services designed to meet their unique learning needs. Our special education staff is highly qualified and dedicated to maintaining rigorous expectations for the students served. Our goal is to ensure that every student exiting our system is college and/ or career ready, in preparation for successful post-secondary life experiences.
The Muskego-Norway School District provides special education services for students who are identified with a disability. Students who are suspected of having a disability are referred for an evaluation to determine if they have an impairment and need for special education in one of the following areas:
- Autism
- Specific Learning Disability
- Speech/Language Disability
- Intellectual Disability
- Orthopedically Impaired
- Visually Impaired
- Emotional/Behavioral Disability
- Other Health Impaired
- Traumatic Brain Injury
- Hearing Impaired
- Significant Developmental Delay
If a student is determined to have a disability and needs special education services to access their education through the evaluation process, an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) is developed to identify goals, special education services, and related services they require to benefit from the educational process. Following the development of the IEP, an appropriate educational program and placement will be determined and offered to parents/guardians. Parents, students, and staff are integral parts of the IEP process and IEP team.

Early Childhood Special Education
Program/Service Description:
The school district's Early Childhood program serves 3-5-year-old children who have met the criteria for special education services. Each child’s Individualized Education Program (IEP) outlines their specific learning goals, supports/services, and location those services are provided. Special education and related services are provided through the District's Early Learning Program.
The role of the Early Childhood special education teacher, is to provide services to students and provide support to families. Areas of student development that are specifically addressed include social-emotional development, behavior, self-help, and problem-solving/pre-academics. The Early Childhood teacher works in coordination with all members of the student’s IEP team.
