Muskego, WI – The Wisconsin Association of School Business Officials (WASBO) recently announced the 2016 School Facilities Manager of the Year Award winner as Jeremiah Johnson, Director of Buildings and Grounds for Muskego Norway School District. Recipients of the School Facilities Manager of the Year Award must meet several criteria in the areas of outstanding contributions to their local school district and community, to the school facilities manager profession, and to WASBO. Johnson has been a presenter and Facility Manager/School Risk Manager designation recipient for WASBO. He constantly seeks to improve his department, using stakeholder feedback through data driven methods. Johnson has developed an app to monitor quality and safety; implemented visitor management software at all schools; helped reduce workplace injuries by 50%; and contributed to saving the district $4 million in utility costs. Energy Savings

Through the diligent effort of our entire staff, our District has reduced energy consumtion by over 30% since 2006! In 2015, all schools were awarded the EPA "Energy Star Award". Through these efforts we were able to reduce greenhouse gas emission by over 6,912 mega-tons, which is equal to planting over 177,000 trees. This program has also allowed us to keep over $5,000,000 in the classroom!

Visitor Management

Muskego-Norway Schools value student and visitor safety. As of 2015, all visitors are required to check in at the main office prior to entering the facility during the school day. All visitors must submit an ID that is processed by our Raptor Visitor Managment Software. This software allows us to know who is in each building at all times and also prints high quility visitor badges which display the visitor's photo and destination. The Raptor Software also checks all visitors against the national sex-offender database. During the first six months of implementation we have successfully processed over 10,000 visitors!
