Muskego Norway Schools is pleased to announce approval by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction to award students with a Global Education Achievement Certificate. This certificate will be used to recognize students who demonstrate their global competency through academic and co-curricular activities.
Students who are awarded this certificate will satisfy all graduation course requirements. In addition, these students will be required to take coursework in world languages as well as other subjects that have strong global connections, demonstrate cultural literacy, participate in extracurricular activities and experiences with global themes, and complete a community service project connected to a global community or global issue. The Wisconsin Global Education Achievement Certificate allows more opportunities for students to experience other cultures during high school and prepares graduates to be college and career - ready for the multicultural, interconnected world.
“The Wisconsin Global Education Achievement Certificate creates a pathway to globally educating our students with our current resources. We are very pleased that our district is one of the first in the state to adopt this program and that our students will clearly have the advantage of this designation on their diplomas and transcripts beginning in 2014-15,” said Muskego Norway Schools, Director of Secondary Student Learning, Lisa Safago.
The Wisconsin Global Education Achievement Certificate is endorsed by the Statewide International Education Council, the Wisconsin Association for Language Teachers (WAFLT), the Wisconsin Association of School District Administrators (WASDA), the Association of Wisconsin School Administrators (AWSA), and the Wisconsin Association of School Boards (WASB).
