The Advanced Placement (AP) Program offers college level courses and examinations to high school students. Advanced Placement courses make it possible for academically talented students to upgrade the quality and increase the challenge for their studies, both in high school and in college. The AP Program consists of teaching the course identified by the College Board as college level in content and affording students an opportunity to write an examination for that given course. Advanced Placement examinations are offered annually to give high school students opportunities to demonstrate college level achievement. Based on the score the student receives on that particular examination and the specific college or university that student chooses to attend, college credit, advanced standing, or course waiver may be offered to that student.
The Muskego-Norway School Board has agreed to assist families who are financially unable to meet the full cost of the AP Exams. Students in need of assistance should contact his/her School Counselor who will compile pertinent information and present it to the District Administrator for review.
Students enrolled in these courses will be expected to perform at a rigorous level of competence and should anticipate a significant amount of additional work outside of class. The grades earned in courses designated as Advanced Placement (AP) will carry a weighted value (.05) per semester, when a student’s grade point average is calculated.
