ATTENDANCE

  • Q: What do I do when my child will be absent?

  • A: Parents / guardians are expected to report their children’s absences on the day of the absence by calling 262-971-1820, then press 2.

If the absence is planned, a Planned Absence Form must be obtained from the Student Services window or downloaded from the LDMS website.  Homework arrangements should be made with the student’s teacher(s) prior to the absence.

Students who need to leave school during the school day must have written parental permission and administrative approval.  Parents/guardians need to sign their student(s) out at the Student Services window. If someone other than a parent /guardian is picking up their child, a written note is required from the child's parent / guardian and it must state who is picking up the child.

(*NOTE: More information related to "Attendance" can be found in the assignment notebook and parent handbook)

  • Q: Can I have homework prepared when my child is absent?

  • A: When you call in the morning, you may ask to have homework assembled.

Please request homework for your child when you call in his/her absence. Homework will be provided for students if they are absent 2 or more days. If there is any homework for your child it can be picked up in the main office between 3:00-  3:10 p.m. From 3:10-5:00 p.m., homework is available on a cart located outside the main office.

Calling classmates or checking individual teacher webpages are other options (see the staff directory or departments pages for links).  School Board policy states that students are allowed one day to turn in missed work for each day they are absent with an excuse.

BUS

  • Q: What bus should my child ride?

  • A: Bus routes will be posted during registration days. Additional information may be obtained from Lamers (262) 679-8920.

  • Q: What do I do when my child needs to take a different bus after school?

  • A: All students who will be taking a different bus route home must have a note from parents indicating the child’s name, grade level, and the bus route number that the child will be taking home. The note must be brought to the Student Services Office before 2:30 p.m. for a bus pass. Students are not allowed to call home for permission as written permission is required.

  • Q: What do I do if there I have a concern regarding the driver or another student on the bus?

  • A: Please fill out a School Bus Safety Report - R & R (Respect and Responsibility) Onboard Form and send it to Student Services with your child. Your concern will be addressed as soon as possible and you will be notified of the outcome. If you need further assistance, you can contact School Resource Officer Eric Nowicki, at (262) 971-1820 ext. 7447 or Lamers at (262)679-8920.

WALKING/BIKING To and From School

  • Q: Can my child walk or ride a bike to and from school?

  • A: The roadways are not deemed to be safe for students to ride their bikes to and from school.  The school does not provide bike racks, nor does it take responsibility for the children's safety when riding a bike, or their bike property.  Children who have permission from their parents / guardians to walk should be extremely careful and should not walk on the road due to the volume and speed of the traffic.  The school district does not assume any liability for students who walk to or from school.
