ATTENDANCE & STUDENT PROGRESSAttendance at the ExtendedLearningAcademy is a critical component to a student fully benefiting from this instructional program.Attendance is also taken into consideration when determining if a student has successfully completed the extended learning experience.Once in session, questions regarding your child’s progress should be directed to your child’s ExtendedLearningAcademy teacher.ABSENCE If your child is absent, please call our Absence Phone Line @ (262) 971-1830 ext. 8223.Children who arrive late or need to leave early should sign in/out at the ELA office, Room 223.
COURSE ENROLLMENTAll courses require a minimum number of students and will have a student-teacher ratio not to exceed 15:1.The number of classes offered will be limited and may fill up quickly.Classes will be filled on a first-come-first-serve basis and parents will be notified if a class is cancelled or has reached capacity.Registration forms are also available on-line at www.muskegonorway.org
CONFIRMATION OF REGISTRATIONParents will be notified by mail on/before May 18, 2012 that their child is registered for ELA.Included in the confirmation will be the time, course and receipt for payment of the course.
DIAGNOSTICINFORMATIONStudents attending a Bridge-the-Gap Course require a Diagnostic Form to be completed by your child’s classroom teacher.Each Muskego-Norway School has access to these forms, and students entering the ELA from the private sector should contact any of the Muskego- Norway Schools for this form, or call Mary Coubal @ Bay Lane Middle School at 262-971-1810 ext. 6010.
FEESFees for courses have been set by the Muskego-Norway School Board. All course payments are due at the time of registration and checks should be made payable to Muskego-Norway Schools. REGISTRATION & EMERGENCY FORMOn the last page of this brochure, you will find your child’s Registration & Emergency Form. This form is to be completed and returned to your child’s teacher with a check payable to Muskego-Norway Schools by March 23, 2012.Additional Registration Forms are available at all Muskego-Norway Schools, the Educational Services Center, S87 W18763 Woods Road, and on-line at www.muskegonorway.org
TRANSPORTATION Transportation is the responsibility of the parent.Car pooling is an option for interested parents by checking the appropriate box found at the top of the Registration Form.Interested car pooling parents will receive a car pool list of families with their class confirmation letters.
DROP OFF & PICK UP PROCEDUREInstruction starts at 8:00 a.m. each day.Parents may drop off and pick up their child(ren) in the south parking lot. Children should be dropped off and picked up by the playground gate. Parents may also choose to park in the south parking lot and walk their child(ren) to the gate. The east parking lot is for teacher/staff parking ONLY.There will be supervision monitoring the transition of students into the building each day.There will be over 200 cars at the Academy at the same time.The more predictable the pattern you can create, the smoother the transition for your child.When leaving the property, vehicles will only be able to exit, going right (southwest) on Hillendale Drive.
